Tale Time is Crossroads library and nursery-preschool reading program that allows members to read, talk, mentor and listen to and with our younger generation.
The program may include reading a character education, educational or social awareness book, a craft on the story subject and a snack time in person or online (You Tube).
Tale Time was developed and is facilitated by 10-year-old Abbey Gifford in 2015, who was a Hall-Dale Elementary School student at the time and the recipient of several awards for her program including the Presidential VolunteerAward, Hardy Girls Healthy Women Community Volunteer Award, Red Claws/Next Gen Award, and student recognition from Hall-Dale Superintendent.
Abbey's love of books and reading inspired her to want to share her passion for literacy and to give back to her community by volunteering.
Her goal is to inspire kids to get excited about the adventures reading offers and has grown to touch hundreds of children across the US to join the movement.
Tale time was made possible through a grant from the Maine Community Foundation in 2015. The grant allowed for special guests, such as childrens’ authors, Chewonki and L.C. Bates presentations and community presentations like fire safety presentation with a tour of a fire truck for the children.
